The Southgate of Barnstaple was removed in the 17th century... there are still remains in Youings sweet shop opposite. It was the main gateway of the town for those traveling from the south and the west. It was one of four gates into the medieval Barnstaple. Formally known as the Hearts Of Oak we reopened as the Southgate 2016.
We are open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. We also have a large function room upstairs available for parties and large bookings.
At the Southgate food is freshly prepared and cooked to order. Please ask if there is something not on the menu as we may be able to cook it for you. Please advise your server of any special dietary requirements or allergies.
